My name is Levin Mejia. I'm a freelance graphic and web designer, and I work under the name IV & III (Four and Three). I like to say that I'm passionate about design and the web, but most people say that I'm obsessed.
My vision is simple, really. I'm dedicated to my work and love what I do because when I see my clients succeed with the projects I have developed for them, I know that all the hard work has paid off. It's more than colours and shapes that look good on screen and paper; it's about developing an entire product that stands apart from the rest. So, that's my goal: to work with you to create leading-edge designs focused on promoting your success!
Working for SB Nation and Vox Media Inc. has been one of highlights of my career. The objective of the project was to rebrand the SB Nation site including the entire collection of over 320 blog logos which make up the SB Nation family. The aim was to create a cohesive and memorable brand which was a challenging task with great rewards. Over a three month period, I was lucky to work with a great team, and towards the end of the project, I pitched my idea for the brand. My concept was focused on the idea of encapsulating the characteristics of each blog in a branded crest which represented the unity between the SB Nation family while maintaining the uniqueness of each blog. Of the three designs presented, my concept was selected, and I'm proud to announce that the SB Nation rebranding was featured as one of the year's Best Rebrands by Under Consideration's Brand New site for 2012.
The Patient Passport App provided by the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre is a unique passport to assist cancer care patients through their journey to recovery. The app helps them track symptoms, keep a journal, organize medications, find definitions to common cancer care terms, keep track of appointments, and search contacts of local cancer care providers in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
Patient Passport integrates iCloud making it a powerful app that can sync all data from the Passport to iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Mac computers using iCloud Calendars. This means that if a patient writes a journal entry, books an appointment, adds a medication, or tracks symptoms, it will be synced automatically between all of their devices with iCloud.
The app was developed with Objective-C along with my good friend and fellow developer Jason Normore. Download Patient Passport for iOS .
Bold, colourful, and fun are the prime features of The 20/20 Group's website that I selected to reflect the company's unique brand. The website is developed as a single page site to engage visitors and enhance their focus on the The 20/20 Group's vision and services. The site was optimized for mobile devices like iPhones and iPads using responsive web design techniques.
As a fun personal project with the goal of learning new technologies and testing the limits of web technology and native apps, I developed, designed, and illustrated an interactive and fun way to read lullabies! The app allows for loop-able music, and kids can play with the characters by dragging them around the stage. It was designed as a fun app for kids, and parents love it too. Nightlight Lullabies is available for download on iPad, iPhone, and iPod. I developed the app entirely using HTML5, CSS3, JS, and web fonts to create the rich design and engaging animations.
The app includes 6 classic and beautifully illustrated lullabies: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Hush Little Baby, Brahm's Lullaby, and Rock-A-Bye Baby. The app was also featured as one of the best Canadian apps in the Apple iTunes App Store. Download Nightlight Lullabies for iOS.
I developed the Haunted Hike App entirely using HTML5, CSS3, JS, and web fonts to create the rich design and engaging animations. The app explores 20 thrilling ghost stories from the oldest city in North America, St. John's, Newfoundland, brought to you by local story teller Dale Jarvis. Download Haunted Hike for iOS.
My passion for the web and design led me to host a conference in my city of St. John's, Newfoundland so that local designers and developers could network and have access to leaders in the industry. While my hopes were humble, I managed to land some of the biggest names in the industry including Jeffrey Zeldman, Ethan Marcotte, Aarron Walter, Jeremy Keith, Josh Clarke, Thomas Lewis and Frederic Harper. I designed and developed the website, managed the social media presence, and took care of all of the logistics. It was a couple of busy months but was extremely rewarding. Because of last year's success, I'm hosting the conference again this year with another set of fantastic speakers including, Jeffrey Zeldman, Jonathan Stark, Lea Verou, Simon Collison, and Jonathan Snook. Hope to see you there! www.gobeyondpixels.com.
